Note from Judith Kohl, counselor at Place of Grace
It is with sadness that I am forced to close my counseling
practice—Place of Grace—and discontinue my ministry as a counselor on campus at
Christ Lutheran Church. This summer I was diagnosed with a Vascularitis—auto
immune disease, Microscopic Polyangiitis. As with most auto-immune diseases,
MPA is chronic—there is no cure and treatment can be aggressive—but
remission is an option for about 85% of the people who have it. God
willing—that is what I am working toward. God often closes one door and opens
another and it is my hope He will do that in my case and will continue to use
me and my degree to glorify Him.
Working at Christ Lutheran Church has been an
amazing experience and I would like to thank the people and staff at Christ for
allowing me that privilege. To those who allowed me to "companion” them over
the last eight years as they have worked through their challenges and struggles
in this life—it has been a pleasure to serve as your "exquisite witness” during
those times and I honor you for having the strength and courage to seek help
when you needed it. Good therapy is when the caregiver and the care
receiver bless each other—I hope that has been the case for you as it has for
me. Joan Chittister, a Benedictine nun describes what I feel about my
work best. "Pain is that dimension of human life that calls us both to give and
to be able to receive the sometimes awkward, often incomplete but always
healing care that those who simply sit with those who hurt, forever bring…To go
down into pain with another person breaks open the heart of the God who looks
among us always for the face most like God’s own.” We should do this for
each other as brothers and sisters in Christ! Thank you for your prayers and
keep them coming—they are appreciated. If you have questions or need to contact
me feel free—(402) 429-2654.

Friends of Christ Lutheran,
Special thank you to everyone who helped get these gift cards into the hands of our families. You all are truly a blessing to them.

Thank you so very much for the delicious lunch you brought out to the house. It most certainly gave Famous Dave's a run for its money! The gift card will buy much needed clothes and household supplies. The ham steaks were such a treat as well!
Please extend our thanks to all individuals responsible. The generosity and support from the staff and congregation at CLC has meant so much to our family during this difficult time in our lives. The compassion of friends, as well as strangers, is just over-whelming! And with every blessing, my heart heals a little more.
Thank you for reaching out to us in prayer and in so many other ways. This is surely God's work in action and may He richly bless each and everyone of you!

Psalm 100:2 "Serve the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs!"
I wanted to express my thanks and appreciation for your support of my trip to Belize. I am thankful for my time there and a chance to build relationships with the people of Belize united in the foundation of Christ. It was amazing to see the Holy Spirit at work during our trip.
To God all the glory!

A big thanks to Austin Carstens for building the brick
flower box in front of the South Sanctuary.
Austin built the flower box as his Eagle Scout project
and coordinated the purchase of the materials, the volunteers and the planting.
Great job Austin!
Thank you so very much for your kindness in giving the gift cards to Walmart and Super Saver! Those of us who suffered from the tornadoes will put them to very good use! Your thoughtfulness is very much appreciated!
In Christ's love,

Many thanks for your prayers and the gift cards you sent for our recent tornado victims. Everyone in our small community grouped together to help one another.
We discovered that God sends blessings from people like you farther away to give support where it is needed. To you, our brothers and sisters in Christ, we send our appreciation.
Blessings to you,
Carol Larsen, member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Cordova, NE

Correspondence from our seminarians
Feb. 25, 2014
I cannot express enough gratitude for your prayers, donations, and support for my seminary experience so far. I just completed my second quarter here at the seminary and I am loving every step so far. I can definitely tell that this is where God wants me, and although I'm unsure of where he may place me someday, I have trust in His promises, because of the work of His Son on the cross. So far I've really enjoyed studying our deep theology and worship and liturgical traditions. I also have come to find an even greater respect for all of the hard work and commitment the pastors at Christ Lutheran have for spreading the love of Christ and the Gospel message. It's deeply encouraging that God has so graciously supplied me such a strong and brilliant institution to be learning at, while also rooting me in such a loving and kind congregation where I can also learn and grow. Once again, I cannot thank you all enough, and if you ever would like to meet me for lunch or if you are in the area don't hesitate to call (402) 730-5011.
Thank you so much for your continued support of my family and me throughout our Seminary journey. You continue to remind us that God has called us to this task and He will provide for us! This most recent financial blessing couldn't have come at a better time. As many of you know, I totaled our car at the end of January on my way back to Lincoln to preach in Room211. So, as we are in the process of searching for a new car, one that will fit 2 children with Stacy due any day now, it was a huge blessing to receive that support. Thank you again!
And also, thank you for all of you who continue to pray for our family. We know that God hears those prayers and thank you for that. Call Day (the day we find our where I will be placed as a pastor in my first congregation) is April 29, only 69 days, 7 hours, and 49 minutes away from the time of this email. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we wait to see God's will for our family. We pray that God will align our will with His. And we pray for Christ Lutheran as you continue to be a blessing to so many!
Thank you and God Bless!!

A grand thank you to the volunteers who helped with the 7th annual CLC Chili Cook-Off. Thank you teams that set up, served and cleaned up. Thanks to the eight teams that provides competition chili and also volunteers who provided house chili and chicken noodle soup. Thank you to the musicians. And last but not least, thank you to the people who attended, ate, enjoyed fellowship and donated funds to help feed Haitian children and send our youth mission team to Nicaragua.
